Sell your vote on ebay!

Well, that's what one guy tried to do. Max Sanders, a college student from Minnesota, thought it would be a laugh to sell his vote in the upcoming Presidential election on the auction site with a minimum bet of $10.

Unfortunately this prank or example of entrepreneurship (depending how you look at it) is illegal under 1893 Minnesota law. Apparently the law was used to prosecute quite a few people during the Prohibition era when people were selling their votes for booze! Not a bad exchange...

Anyway, ebay has taken the listing down (spoil sports) and Minnesota government officials (who obviously have too much time on their hands) are looking into prosecuting the poor chap who could face a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

I bet Mr Sanders thought he was on to a winner - pocket the money and vote for who he wanted to vote for anyway!
