... in tennis.
It is an absolute outrage that men and women get paid the same for winning the grand slams.
Yesterday, the excellent Serena Williams demolished her opponent Dinara Safina 6-0, 6-3 in just under an hour of tennis in a half packed Rod Laver Arena.
Contrast that with today's men's final at the Australian Open where Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer in a five-set thriller 7-5, 3-6, 7-6, 3-6, 6-2 in a packed Rod Laver Arena.
Not only do the women play less tennis (best of three rather than best of five sets - if it even ever goes to the deciding set) there is far less strength in depth in the women's game and far less consistency.
One wouldn't have known that Safina was also challenging Williams for the No. 1 ranking yesterday. Williams was Premier League and Safina was Vauxhall Conference.
I wouldn't even pay the women half what the men get paid. A third is surely all they deserve!
