I popped into Woolworths earlier to see what all the fuss was about and it was a sad sight to witness the end of a high-street institution. All items had a discount from 10 to 50 percent but many of the shelves were empty and were not being restocked.
The depressing sight looked like a hoard of scavengers pulling the last remaining flesh off the Woolworths bone - while it was still half alive.
With no credible buyer in sight it looks increasingly clear that it won't be long now until Woolworths is no more - and with it the loss of 25,000 jobs.
